Frequently Asked Questions
Hypnotherapy is a therapeutic technique that uses relaxation and focused attention to help bring about positive change. When in a deeply relaxed state, your subconscious mind becomes more open to suggestions, allowing you to break free from unwanted patterns, habits, or limiting beliefs.
Unlike traditional talking therapies, where resistance to change can be stronger, hypnotherapy bypasses the mind’s "security guard" and works directly with the subconscious. However, you remain in full control at all times and will never do anything you do not want to do.
From a scientific perspective, hypnosis has been extensively studied and has been shown to be effective for issues such as fertility support, stress and anxiety reduction, and habit control. Research indicates that hypnosis alters brain activity, influencing perception, attention, and suggestibility in a way that can support positive transformation.
It is important to note that hypnotherapy is a complementary therapy and should not replace conventional medical treatment.
Hypnotherapy can be beneficial for many people, but there are some situations where it may not be suitable. These include:
• Psychotic disorders – Conditions such as schizophrenia can be exacerbated by hypnosis, as the altered state may worsen hallucinations or delusions.
• Individuals under the influence of alcohol or drugs – A clear and focused mind is essential for hypnotherapy to be effective. However, if someone is committed to change and attends their session sober, hypnotherapy may be beneficial.
• Very young children – Young children may struggle to understand and fully engage with the process. However, teenagers and older children (aged 12+) may benefit.
• People with dementia or cognitive impairments – Hypnotherapy requires a level of comprehension and communication that may be difficult for individuals with advanced cognitive decline.
If you’re unsure whether hypnotherapy is right for you, I offer a free consultation where we can discuss your needs.
All sessions take place online via Google Meet. You will receive a link via email—simply click it at the scheduled time to join. You can use a phone, laptop, or computer, as long as you have a stable internet connection. It’s best to choose a quiet, comfortable space where you won’t be disturbed. I just need to be able to see your face, as this helps me gauge your responses.
Session Breakdown:
• Initial Consultation (Free, up to 20 minutes) – This is a relaxed chat to see if I can help you and whether you’d like to work with me. There’s no obligation.
• First Full Session (Up to 2 hours) – This begins with a conversation where I listen to you and gain insight into your needs. Hypnotherapy takes place towards the end, where I guide you into a relaxed state to access your subconscious and use analytical or solution-focused hypnotherapy tailored to you. You will then be counted out of hypnosis so you feel alert and focused.
• Subsequent Sessions (Up to 1 hour) – These may follow a similar format or become more coaching-based, depending on your progress and needs. Every session is entirely tailored to you.
There are no guarantees, as success depends on several factors, including the nature of the issue, your openness to the process, and your commitment to any agreed-upon actions. However, I am fully committed to creating a safe, supportive, and professional environment to help you achieve the best possible outcome.

Our thoughts and emotions have a profound impact on our physical health. When we feel stressed, anxious, or emotionally overwhelmed, our bodies react - whether through tension, illness, or exhaustion.
The saying "the body keeps the score" reflects how unprocessed emotions or past trauma can manifest physically. Hypnotherapy works by helping the mind release stress, reframe past experiences, and create a healthier internal state, which can positively influence overall wellbeing.
Yes, I work with children aged 12 and over, as my experience is in supporting teenagers. I hold a Disclosure and PVG check for working with young people.
Children can either:
• Be accompanied online by a parent or guardian, or
• Attend the session privately with parental consent.
The session will be tailored to the child, ensuring they feel comfortable and engaged in the process.
